Sivapuram Veda Sivagama Patasala was established in the year 1997 in Mayiladuthurai in Tamil Nadu. Sivasri. A.V.Swaminatha Sivachariar is the founder and principal of this Patasalai.

This Patasala is dedicated and persevering for the upkeeping, developing, and spreading the values of Hindu Religion, Culture, Sastras, Vedas and Agamas. It is also conducting various seminars and conferences frequently inviting various spiritual leaders, scholars and gurus.

This Patasala has a small Shiva temple inside and daily morning and evening ritual poojas and havan are performed. During this pooja, Veda parayam is chanted in a big way.

This Patasala is registered under section 12-A of the Income tax Act, 1961.

This Patasala has obtained the 80G exemption certificate from the Income tax Department.

This Patasala is registered as NGO and obtained the Darpan id from the Government of India.

This Veda Patasala is running for the past more than 25 years in the same complex.  The area of this complex is admeasuring about 25,000 sq.ft. This land is given to Sri Swaminatha Sivachariar for the Patasala by the Thiruvaduthurai Aadheenam, on a no-time limit lease agreement, under the prevailing Mutts culture. The Mutt is charging yearly a nominal token amount as lease rent. The land once given to this type of educational/charitable trust, it will not be taken back by the Mutt. In this complex, total built-up area is approx. 7500 sq ft. consisting of 8 rooms, 2 big halls, kitchen, dining room, library, cow Shala, etc.

This Vada Patasala is also started partly functioning from one more premises, which is owned by its founder, for the past 3 years. The area of this place is about 6,000 sq.ft. and the built-up are is about 4,000 sq.ft. consisting of 2 big halls, 5 rooms, kitchen, dining room, garden, etc.  In this place (a) Classes for the first 2 years students are taking place; (b) few teachers are staying there; and (c) daily poojas and vedas recitals are taking place.

Over 300 students have graduated from this Veda Patasala over the past 25 years and are working around the world in various professional fields and temples.

This Patasala is running without getting any financial assistance from any State / Central Government bodies.

This Patasala is running purely from (a) the aids / contributions / donations received from the well-wishers of the activities being undertaken here; (b) Old students well settled in India and abroad; and (c) personal income of the founders.

Sri Swaminatha Sivachariar (Founder and Principal)

He studied Vedas, Sastras and Agamas in Dharumapuram Veda Sivagama Patasalai (a Unit of Dharumapuram Aadheenam).  After successful completion, he was awarded “Vedagama praveena” certificate. Later he started working in the same Patasala as a teacher and became its principal. After quitting his job, he started his own Patasala in the year 1996.

Sri Swaminatha Sivachariar is having more than 32 years of experience and is one of the very few experts in Vedas and Saivagama Shastras in Tamil Nadu. He has performed more than 1500 consecrations (“kumbhabhishekam”) of temples till now in various parts of India and abroad.  He is also participating in seminars and conferences being conducted by various Hindu religious organizations. He has been Advisor to the HR&CE Ministry, Government of Tamil Nadu for a couple of terms.
